bumper to bumper

coming down for fateful rent
rest your eyes now the day is spent
curl up neat next to your brother
close your eyes and wallow together

celebrate your time or what we have left
endless nights filled with regret
not the kind you can speak on
but the words that you forget to sleep on

record your dreams and decorate your space
after all, you don't want to leave a trace

stinging nettles and laborious days
lonely nights fading to a haze
i remember our times and my erroneous ways

now i'm cooped up, ready to spring
fuck the watch, I'll get more bling

cigarettes drowning and speaking in tongues
smoke up a lot and cough out a lung
remember the silence as you strive for sober

it's time to wake up
we ain't never getting older
